Retired vicar, 79, who was left homeless and nearly penniless after splitting from his 24-year-old gay husband vows to write him into his will

Philip Clements, a 79-year-old retired vicar from the Church of England was left homeless and nearly penniless after he sold his £215,000 home in Sandwich, Kent, to buy a flat in Romania, for his 24-year-old estranged husband Florin Marin, who later left him.

Now, Mr. Clements is hoping to rekindle his relationship with his much younger husband and has vowed to write him into his will.

'I have got to be realistic. I am 80 in August and I want to see him secure. He is the only one I can leave things to. I don't see much of my brothers, and they wouldn't need it. If it goes well, he will be in my will.'

According to MailOnline, the couple who got married last year celebrated their first anniversary in Spain last month and Mr. Clements is very hopeful they will get back and spend September and Christmas together.

He said: 'We have learned. We have both had to adjust. There were rumours he was with somebody else, but he has denied that.

'We are planning to spend September and Christmas together, and hopefully, it can go from there. But we don't want to jump too far just yet.

'He is young, and has plans ahead of him. But I don't think I'm going to die just yet, there is a few years left in the old boy.'

'I'm pretty determined it will work out. We laugh a lot, we are very relaxed around each other, I think this was a phase we needed to get out of our system. He is my husband. I want him to feel secure. I haven't got much to leave him at the moment, as I sold the house.'

The retired vicar added: 'He is not in it for the money. He knows I don't have a lot.'

Earlier this year, Mr. Clements's brother Tony, 68, revealed that he warned him about the relationship with Florin but he wouldn't listen.

'He would say: "I don't know how many years I've got left. I want to live life to the full. I kept telling him: "Don't be a bloody fool". But it was all about this Florin. Philip didn't seem to care about anyone else.'
