Nigerians will ease out President Buhari in 2019 - Olu Falae

The National Chairman of Social Democratic Party (SDP), Chief Olu Falae has declared that everything possible will be done to ease out President Muhammadu Buhari from power come 2019.

Falae, who spoke in Abeokuta after a consultation meeting with former President Olusegun Obasanjo, said the affairs of Nigeria are greater than the political ambition of anybody. He also stated that the emergence of a good, progressive leadership in 2019 was imperative for the sake of Buhari and the country at large.

Falae, who is a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Minister of Finance in the General Ibrahim Babangida military regime, arrived the home of his host at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) about 12:30 p.m. The meeting, which lasted for about two hours, had in attendance a former presidential spokesman, Dr. Doyin Okupe; former Ogun State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Elder Joju Fadairo; two-time governorship candidate, Prince Gboyega Isiaka and a SDP governorship aspirant in Ogun State, Sina Kawonise, among others.

Falae, who spoke on the outcome, canvassed the need for “all right-thinking Nigerians” to forge a collaboration towards bringing beneficial change in the country in 2019.

He added that it was important for the SDP and the Coalition for Nigeria Movement (CNM) being championed by Obasanjo to work together to effect desired change. He described the Buhari administration as a failure, insisting that the government has refused to carry out its primary responsibility of protecting the lives and property of the citizens.

“What I am taking away from here is a confirmation on the fact that most Nigerians are united in wanting a change for the better, in doing whatever is possible to ease out President Buhari for his own sake and for the sake of Nigeria,” he said.

“The affairs of Nigeria are greater than the political ambition of anybody. So, I came here to exchange views with Baba Obasanjo on the affairs of Nigeria. Once upon a time between 1977 and 1979, I worked with him, he was the military Head of State and I was a Permanent Secretary working with him. And we did many things in those days to advance the course of Nigeria and the way things are in Nigeria, I think I should come back to see him, to exchange views with him to see whether we can make any contribution towards the elimination of the threat that we are now facing. I am sure that most, if not all right-thinking Nigerians, would see the need for all of us to work together to ensure that there is a good, beneficial, peaceful and progressive change in Nigeria. A change from massive unemployment which we have now; a change from continuous harassment from killing of people by Fulani herdsmen; a change from the fear and threat of Boko Haram; a change from a situation where farmers are afraid to go to their farms. A change from the riots that are all over the place because of frustration and loss of hope; a change from the present situation of depression and failure and revival of the economy of Nigeria” he said.
