Chelsea to offer Ashley Cole coaching role after announcing his retirement from football

Chelsea is expected to offer Ashley Cole a coaching role after the former England left-back announced his retirement from football.

On Sunday, August 18, the former Arsenal player, 38, confirmed the decision to retire from football following a glittering career that saw the defender win 13 major titles.

According to Mail Online, Chelsea is planning to discuss a potential return to the club for a player who is widely recognized as one of the best left-backs in the world.

Cole, who made more than 500 club appearances, has made clear his intention to start a coaching career, saying: ‘After hard-thinking and consideration, it was time to hang my boots up and look forward to my next chapter, which will hopefully be coaching.

'I am doing the course at the moment and now I want to be great as a coach.’

It was also reported that Chelsea is also helping Cole to complete his UEFA qualifications in his bid to become a good coach.

Ashley Cole, who is also the most decorated footballer in FA Cup history played for Crystal Palace (on loan), Chelsea, Roma, LA Galaxy, and Derby County.
